clicking the save button after customizing advanced WebCam settings doesn't save them permanently. I know this is a known issue that's been around for a while. It's about time for a solution...

i got an c910 too.I remembered i was able to save a long time before i reinstall my computer, however after i update the driver, it can never be saved again, and i have tried hundred of methods to deal with it....but all fail...
I would like to know if the save button WORKS or not in the latest driver...is it just my own problem , or the save doesn't work for all computers and I won't find any solution to solve it?
Hope someone can give me an answer...

Having the same problem... I see that lots of other folks have too, on at least a couple of cam models.
Any update from support on how to fix this? It's been over a year since they acknowledged it as a known issue.

Hello guys,
I see that you are having issues when you try to save your settings on the LWS software. Could you please let me know which settings you are trying to save as well as: the webcam you have, the LWS version you have installed and the OS you are on.
Please keep in mind that some of the features on our webcams (like RightLight) are set by default, so they have to be changed every time the system restarts.
Best regards,
Paulina

Paulina,
Had to check this out a bit before answering... looks like (on my setup anyway) the settings are being lost when the system reboots - not when the LogiTech software is restarted.
I'm seeing at least three settings being lost upon system restart:
- The "Exposure" slider in the advanced settings conrol window is forgetting the last value (the rest of them, such as Gain, Brightness, etc. are being saved). Exposure value is getting reset to about 10% each time, so the image goes black on the camera and makes it look like the camera isn't working anymore.
- The Auto-focus checkbox in the Motion Detection window is being checked (turned on) by default after system reboot.
- The slider on the Auto-focus feature (below the Auto-focus checkbox) is always reset to about 30% after system reboot.
Webcam is the C615. OS is Win XP with service pack 3. And... not totally sure about LWS version - Logitech software has no versioning information in runtime like a normal app (such as under Help -> About). Checked LWS.exe at path "C:\Program Files\Logitech\LWS\Webcam Software" and the file is flagged as version 13.31.1038.0.
Hope this helps

Hello MarchingPenguin,
To make sure that you have the most updated version of the Logitech Webcam Software, I would try to uninstall it and download it from the website. To do this you can try this FAQ: Uninstalling and reinstalling the Logitech Webcam Software
Once you have installed the software, please make sure that in the Advanced Settings window, the RightLight and both Auto options are cleared. This lets you manually adjust all of the image settings. After changing the settings please reboot your computer to check if the changes are saved.
Since the Exposure setting is linked to the lighting, and RightLight is a default feature, you would have to uncheck the RightLight box to change this, but it will go back to the default value after rebooting. To change the Motion Detection and Auto-focus settings, please make sure that the Follow My Face box is unchecked.
Looking forward to your reply,
Paulina

Hello Paulina,
Had just recently installed the updated software from the website (the out-of-the-box version was crashing my entire machine whenever trying to shut down LWS software). Version offered on the website is the same as the one installed (2.31.1044.0c) so this should be the newest release. Auto, Follow My Face and rightlight options have been cleared/unchecked while troubleshooting.
Just found out, however, that unplugging the webcam's USB connection and plugging it in again clears the settings values - it isn't just upon reboot. Tried tracing registry updates and file i/o on a save request but LWS is hammering the registry while it is running and can't tell where it may be updating. Didn't see anything in file i/o that points to a rewrite of a config file, etc. At a loss on this end.
Am using this as an intermittent security monitor so the system gets restarted quite a bit... frustrating having to reset all the values each time.
Thanks again for any help you can provide.

Hello MarchingPenguin,
I see that you installed the software from the website, and that you already have the most updated version. I also noticed that the settings you are trying to save are the ones that come by default. Unfortunately, these settings cannot be permanently changed. So every time that the webcam is powered on, the default value will override the changes.
Hope you find this information useful,
Paulina
