lvuvc64.sys causing BSOD when connecting Webcam Pro 9000

This problem has recently started. I have had the cam for a year or two, some months ago it would show up as unknown device in device manager. Replugging it in a couple of times would bring it back but during the past few days that has intermittently cause a BSOD with  lvuvc64.sys as the reason. Leaving my camera plugged in when I reboot the computer often causes it to BSOD on bootup.

I uninstalled the software and drivers and installed the latest as detailed on the support pages, doing a clean install. Installation went fine but when I should see the webcam picture there was a black screen. I had to unplug and replug in the camera 2x before it was recognised

The computer is an up to date Windows 7 64 bit.

This has not solved my problem. Any ideas please?

thanking you

Hello BGB,

If possible, please try your web camera on a different computer, this will determine if you are experiencing a system specific issue or a hardware issue.

Re: lvuvc64.sys causing BSOD when connecting Webcam Pro 9000

Thank you for your advice. That's what I could not understand, I could use it on my HP laptop (Win7 32bit) but on my newer desktop (Win7 64bit) it didn't work all the time, 1 in 3 times and it would work. I wondered if there were driver issues in 64bit or the motherboard BIOS or.....

As no one replied I assumed the fault lay with me so I managed to borrow a friends Webcam Pro 9000 the other day and for 3 days it worked flawlessly on both my computers so I think it was a hardware fault within the camera, one that only showed itself periodically on my desktop computer.

I have since purchased a C920 which works fine.

Thanks again

Barry
