i purchased a logitech hd c270 webcam and im just finding the image incredibly grainy and poor. i thought it might just be my laptop but it's the exact same on my computer. i have tried every resolution and each of the other options 720p ect.
i have tried it in different lightings, e.g. daylight, daylight with lights, nightime with lights, and its always the same. even when i cover the screen and make it dark the same vertical blue/white lines cover the screen, as if its just there covering the screen no matter what i do!!
i looked at reviews before i bought the product and looked at examples on youtube and the quality there looks so good compared to mine! is it to do with my laptop/computer?! my computer screen is really good quality and my laptop is an acer aspire 5315, windows vista, 32-bit operating system, processor: 540 @ 1.86ghz, sorry im not sure what details you would need to see if its my machine or the actual product, or if im doing something wrong! PLEASE help me if possible!!
x
oh and here are links to afew print screens i took:
here you can see the grainy effect

here you can see it properly, it's like this on everything so its as if theres a screen of this no matter where i put my camera
and heres a photo of me on it, i usually like to have my webcam in black and white, i turned the contrast up a little here to take a photo, but you can see its just awful quality.

and if you do think it's my laptop thats making this webcam be so poor please let me know and i will find the details for my computer because thats alot better than my laptop so i dont understand why its still poor quality on that! xx

Hey, I am sorry to hear your problems with your webcam
Maybe it possible you have a deactive webcam. Just take back to walmart or target. Ask to get a replacement.
I have that model c270 and recently upgrade to c510. I like both. Just keep in mind that never going to get crystal clear images with webcams.

SOLUTION
I also just purchased a C270 and had the same annoying issue in Win7Pro64. I discovered that the automatic gain causes the grain to appear. Unless you have ridiculous amounts of TV studio quality blinding light in your space, the gain control will come up. So disable it.
The solution that worked for me is to start the Logitech Webcam Software, then start QuickCapture. Click on "Advanced settings." Now uncheck both RightLight and Auto Gain (to the right of the gain bar). You may have to check and uncheck the gain checkbox. Now the exposure and gain bars will now become operable. Turn the gain down to minimum, the exposure to maximum to compensate, and then turn RightLight on again. DO NOT recheck the auto gain box.
I tested this on Skype with our iPad and the image quality improvement is many times better.
