My system:
acer notebook (athlon2400+ /Via km400 chipset / WinXP Home SP2 )
VIA drivers installed
VIA 6202 USB2.0 controller
i tried to install QC fusion on this pc:
execute qc950enu.exe
reboot pc
plug-in webcam when asked...
and windows says:
impossible to install hardware :
error in installing hardware
USB Device
impossible to complete installation of the peripheral:
missing item in the inf file.
possible cause: the inf file was written for windows 95 or higher
i tried and tried .. always got the same situation

ok, after 9 hours of working i solved it:
i installed a Pcmcia usb2 card, with NEC controller.
and i installed the cam using this new card.
after you install the Fusion on the pcmcia adapter
you can unplug the cam from there,
and plug it in the notebook's inbuilt usb ports. it will be installed automagically.
but now there is another problem,
the cam gets hot while connected (half an hour is sufficient),
as heat increases , video and audio performance drops (sensors are disturbed by heat).
Cmos sensor, heat, no manual focus, bad compatibility with VIA chipsets, high CPU requirements.
i'll resell this thing on ebay.
Logitech people , if you would like to discover how to build a good webcam,
buy a Philips Vesta Pro (1997) and copy that.

Welcome to the New Logitech Community Webcam Forum marcos! ![]()
Glad you solved your problems...well...most of them anyway. ![]()
The USB thing has come up before...for whatever reasons, the camera can be picky about that. ![]()
The camera should get warm while in use, but the image quality should not degrade. Perhaps your particular unit is bad. I'd take it back and exchange it for another one...if you so choose to do so.
