webcam c270 audio problem

When I turn the webcam on, my system speakers quit working. How can I stop this?

Please provide additional information. What operating system are you using? What are the M/N and P/N located on a tag attached to the USB cable of your camera? Does this happen when using the Logitech Webcam Software?

Operating System Windows 7
I could be wrong about the 6 in P/N; even with a magnifying glass it is very small to these 50 plus years old eyes.

Hello thesanctuary,
The M/N and P/N match the C270, thank you. Are your speakers also connected to the computer via USB? Please have a look in device manager: Start->Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Sound->Playback Tab, left click once on the audio device and click on the "Set Default" button, then click "apply/ok" (You should see your speakers there)

The speakers are connected via a jack in the back. They are Logitech X-140 speakers.

I have found a few similar incidents of the issue you are experiencing. One was solved by updating the drivers for the soundcard and another was solved by enabling and setting the speakers as default.
With the camera working, please try the following:
