Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000 won't work on WIndows 7 RC 32-bit (P/N 861205-0000)

Just installed Windows 7 RC on a brand new computer, downloaded the Quickcam software as follows:

  • Title: QuickCam v11.1
  • Software Version: 11.1
  • Post Date: 8/7/2007
  • Platform: Windows Vista 32-bit
  • File Size: Approximate download size is 35 megabytes.

I ran the installer, keep getting alerted that this software is not compatible with Windows 7, it does recognize the audio and mic settings, but no video.

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Best Regards,
Daniel

Thanks Pedro!
Is there a list of Cameras that *WILL* be supported in Windows 7 that I can buy today to replace mine?

Thanks,

dansilva1976,

Any of our cameras that are currently being sold on our WEBSITE will work with Windows 7 with the exception of the QuickCam Vision Pro but they won't be official technical support until Oct 22nd.

Thanks,

I think it's pretty lame that Logitech won't support the 5000 in Windows 7. I doubt it's a difficult thing to implement. After all Windows 7 ships with a basic driver for the cam. I can understand really old non-USB hardware not being supported. But if there is nothing wrong with the hardware I think it's terrible that Logitech don't update the software to support it.

I hadn't even realized that my QuickCam Pro 5000 wasn't supposed to be supported by Windows 7.

I'm using ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/quickcam/lws100_x64.exe on Windows 7 x64.

For 32-bit, I'd try ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/quickcam/lws100.exe

WOW I can’t believe that you will not be supporting this camera.  I bought 2 of them 2 or 3 years ago and now its worthless.  Would it really be that difficult to put out a driver that’s recognized by window 7 so we could at least use it with windows live.

This might be the last time I purchase a Logitech cam…..

The same for me, I bought this camera 2 years ago and you are telling me it won't work under Windows 7 !!!

It's a lame, it's not an old product, it works perfectly fine and I should buy an other one because you wont developp the driver on Windows 7.

What am i going to do with it ???  Resell it ?? Who's gonna buy a cam not supported under W7 ??

It's nice to provide many different cameras but if you're not able to support them, it don't worth it !!!!

I'm very disappointed by logitech's behaviour on this.

Re: Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000 won't work on WIndows 7 RC 32-bit (P/N 861205-0000)

I have the Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 plugged into a laptop running Windows 7 x64 RTM and it works completely (video and microphone) with Skype with only the Windows built-in generic drivers. Device Manager automatically sees the video as a generic "USB Video Device", and the microphone as a generic "USB Audio Device".

I have not tried to install Logitech's Vista drivers for the 5000 on my Windows 7 laptop, although I have generally had good success with other Vista drivers working on Windows 7.

The same applies for me too. Logitech seemed to make good products in terms of hardware quality. But I have had many driver problems already. Now my Quick Cam Pro 5000 is unsupported and worthless. I've bought lots of Logitech products throughout the past 10+ years and I had some software/driver problems but I chose to ignore them. But not supporting something like a recent product on Windows 7???This was the last time I purchased any Logitech products and I will recommend anyone not to purchase any Logitech products as well!!!
