Quickcam Pro 9000 & Windows 7 RTM x64 -- Locks up sound

Using my Quickcam Pro 9000 (MN V-UBM46 / PN 860-000109)and Windows 7 RTM x64, along with Logitech Webcam Software 1.0.. Anytime I use any application that utilizes the microphone on the webcam, it eventually totally freezes my sound drivers for the entire system, requiring a reboot.  The Windows Audio service stops responding -- If I attempt to restart it, it just eternally says 'Stopping Windows Audio Service...' -- the microphone on the camera stops receiving audio (in fact any attempt to turn the audio on will cause the application to hourglass).  The sound on the motherboard is a Realtek HD Audio, using Windows 7 Drivers downloaded from Realtek dated 8/31/09.

Using UVC drivers built in to Windows result in the same behavior.  The only way I can get it not to freeze up is either 1) disable the microphone of the camera in device manager or 2) leave the camera unplugged completely.

Any ideas?

Re: Quickcam Pro 9000 & Windows 7 RTM x64 -- Locks up sound

I am having the same problem. The video works great, but the microphone will not work at all. When I attempt to use the mic the program locks up (either LWS or Skype) and upon shutdown of windows 7 an error message displays that Windows is not able to play logoff sound and I must end program. Any suggestions?

Re: Quickcam Pro 9000 & Windows 7 RTM x64 -- Locks up sound

This may seem obviouis to some, but the driver for the Logitech built-in mic conflicts with the drivers assigned to my computer's sound card (Soundblaster x-FI Xtreme Audio).  Since I don't want to disable my sound card's driver (which, by the way, will enable me to configure and use the Logitech's mic without a problem) I guess I'll just have to buy another mic and plug it in directly to my sound card.  Any other suggestions?

Re: Quickcam Pro 9000 & Windows 7 RTM x64 -- Locks up sound

I have exactly same problem.  According to Logitech, Quickcam Pro 9000 is compatible with Windows 7.  Reported the problem to Logitech, with no luck, very disappointed. ever since I got my new computer, I am not able to use it, I really love this camera to work, since this was a good camera when I had XP. Any one help us?

Re: Quickcam Pro 9000 & Windows 7 RTM x64 -- Locks up sound

Same problem.  I've got a Realtek AC97 sound card running on Win7x64.  I run lws110_x64.exe to install the quickcam 9000 drivers and it freezes at the end.  I'm assuming this is the portion where it does something with the audio.  Other audio-related programs (including the Windows Volume Mixer) freeze when I launch them at this point.  I force a reboot, launch the Quickcam App and the video works, but if I try to configure the sound... freeze.

Re: Quickcam Pro 9000 & Windows 7 RTM x64 -- Locks up sound

I'm happy to report that I have finally solved this issue.

I replaced the Quickcam Pro with a Microsoft LifeCam.  No more driver conflicts, and no more Logitech cameras for me.

I have a C200 camera with exact same problem.

Pretty much replacing the camera is the solution I am looking at. It's pretty pathetic and makes me seriously reconsider the 5 or so peripherals I have from Logitech.

Re: Quickcam Pro 9000 & Windows 7 RTM x64 -- Locks up sound

Hi,

Can all of you if possible run the Logitech Diagnostic tool by right clicking on the Logitech webcam icon located on the system tray then select "Logitech Diagnostic Tool" and copy and paste the information you see under the System Tab in your thread(You may delete any information you do not want wish to share before posting), also please be sure to include your soundcard manufacturer.

Thanks,
