Re: SetPoint 4.80 is Windows 7 WHQL certified and available for download

I have got the same issue with SetPoint 4.80 and Windows 7 64-Bit Ultimate Edition (German). During installation, I got the "The VC8 library was not installed correctly, please restart the machine and reinstall"-error - neither installating VC2005 and VC2008 32 and 64-Bit redistributable package helps nor restarting the machine. I switched off UAC as well, this didn't help.

I hope that Logitech fixes this issue as soon as possible!

They say you have to install VC2005 32 and 64. You need to install both under Windows 7 64. Have you tried that? I can install the 32bit but not the 64 one.

Re: SetPoint 4.80 is Windows 7 WHQL certified and available for download

I solved my problem and now can install setpoint 4.80 64 under windows 7 64. The problem is with file permissions. I have a second hard where I keep all my data (including the installation files).

So when I installed Windows 7, the Data drive didn't have the necessary permissions. I had already permited full access to my user on that drive but that was not enough. I also had to add SYSTEM and grant full access to it. Now it works perfectly.

Re: SetPoint 4.80 is Windows 7 WHQL certified and available for download

I have a different problem under Win7  x64 (Home Premium) -- SetPoint 4.80 installs fine, but errors out when I try to run it.  All the error message says is that "SetPoint encountered a problem" and that I should re-install it.  Well, I have re-installed it at least 5 times and it never works.

Re: SetPoint 4.80 is Windows 7 WHQL certified and available for download

"MX500 is not supported in SetPoint. It is one of legacy mice that uses Mouseware." who cares. mouseware doesn't work under W7 and you can't remap mouse buttons. talking to logitech support is really, really funny. they know nothing. does anyone need a such rubbish support?

Re: SetPoint 4.80 is Windows 7 WHQL certified and available for download

For anyone who's using WIndows 7 x64 and having issues installing AFTER installing the Visual Studio Updates, here is what I did to resolve the issue:

1. Downloaded the Logitech Setup Point 4.80

2. Downloaded the X86 and X64 to the Visual Studio C++ 2005 linked earlier in Post 38.

x86:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=EB4EBE2D-33C0-4A47-9DD4-B9A6D7BD44DA&displa...

x64:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647&displa...

3. Installed x86 AND x64

(If you get a problem with saying you have No disk space on a CD Drive you need to go into Device Manager and disable it while before you install the x64, after you install it just re-enable it)

4. Installed Setpoint.

If from here you get the VC8 Libary Error THIS is what you have to do:

1. Go into Control Panel, go into Programs and Features and Uninstall Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2005, you may have 2-3 entries for this, Uninstall ALL of them.

2. Reinstall the x86 and x64 Distributed updates mentioned before.

3. Install SetPoint, after that it should install.

The last 3 steps are what I had to do after the original instructions because I still got the VC8 Error.

Re: SetPoint 4.80 is Windows 7 WHQL certified and available for download

I have installed setpoint 4.8 on my newly purchased DELL Workstation with windows 7 64 bit OS, but when I run the installed SW, I cannot see all the expected tabs.:

On the vertical tabs, I do not have the bluetooth tab (although using bluetooth Dinovo mini keyboard which works) and on the horizontal tabs I have only the tools tab and do not see the mouse or keyboard tabs.

Is there anything that can be done to fix that?

Thanks,

Eli

Re: SetPoint 4.80 is Windows 7 WHQL certified and available for download

I've done a clean install of Windows 7 on my Dell E6500, and my V470 scroll wheel no longer works.   The V470 worked fine under Vista on the same machine.    I've installed SetPoint control centre V4.80.103 and driver V.4.82.11 but Windows 7 control panel does not recognize the mouse, and SetPoint does not allow me to see any mouse settings screen.

The Logitech website shows that the V470 is Windows 7 compatible, however I don't see Windows 7 as an option under driver downloads for this mouse.   Does this mouse work with Windows 7 or do I need to buy another brand of mouse?

Re: SetPoint 4.80 is Windows 7 WHQL certified and available for download

I'm using MX 5500 Revolution - Win7 64bit Ultimate!

After installation of SetPoint 480 _x64 I see the setup page of the mice and can change the various otions without problems. However, the keyboard is not showing up. So I cannot configure any of the hot keys.

Does Logitech develop a new - properly working - SetPoint version or do I have to change the brand?
