Setpoint 5.20 + One Touch Search = IE Window opening (when Firefox is default browser)

[ Edited ]

The basic problem:  I have Firefox set as my default browser.  When using Firefox if I click the button assigned to One-Touch Search, an Internet Explorer window is opened and the search is performed in IE.  I called Logitech support and they confirmed that is should open in the default browser and seemed confused by the behavior I am experiencing, but had no way to fix it.

Additional info:

Confirmed Firefox is default browser via Tools > Options > Advanced > System Defaults > Check Now

Confirmed IE is NOT default via Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Default Web Browser > "Internet Explorer is currently not the default web browser"

IE also asks if I would like to make it the default browser any time I open it.

Interesting twist:  In the IE window opened by One-Touch Search, IE appears to be the default browser.  If I check the settings in the IE window opened by One Touch Search it shows IE is default.  If I close that window and open a new IE window, then IE is once again not the default browser.

I have no idea if this is a Win 7 problem, an IE problem, or a Setpoint 5.20 problem.  Regardless it is annoying.  I miss One Touch Search

Re: Setpoint 5.20 + One Touch Search = IE Window opening (when Firefox is default browser)

i wanted it to open an url in firefox, but kept doing it in explorer.

so instead of a web address, i set it up to open file. which file? a shortcut to the url i wanted. that way the default browser was validated and opened in firefox. Hope this workaround works for you.

cheers.

Hi, interesting thread, the same happens on my XP machine and it's rather annoying. I'm a little disappointed of their SetPoint software, my old Logitech mouse came with the older software MouseWare which had some functions that have disappeared in SetPoint, fortunately we've got these workarounds but when it comes to the mouse, you can't get assign as many actions as you can with the keyboard and it gets trickier and quite slow. Thanks anyway for your solution simba65465132
