Re: Windows 7 x64 and QuickCam Pro 5000 (A.K.A. Cisco VT Camera)

I also see PRO564 in both "Logitech_Webcam_1.00.1280" and "Logitech_Webcam_1.10.1113.0" versions.

where can i find the version with the PRO464? and in PRO564 i cant find any 08C5 to replace.

Re: Windows 7 x64 and QuickCam Pro 5000 (A.K.A. Cisco VT Camera)

Hit the same problem and just figured it out.

The 11.1 software for Vista x64 has the PRO464 folder and 08C5 entries.  Use this software download rather than 11.8 or the WebCam for Win7.

Started right up for me.

Thanks, Mark, for the cool hack!

Re: Windows 7 x64 and QuickCam Pro 5000 (A.K.A. Cisco VT Camera)

I have followed your advice completely, running the file on an xp computer and copying the unpacked files to a flash drive then editing IPRO464v.inf in notepad++, however when i choose the update driver and select the folder it says that the device is already running the most recent software even though i do not have any logitech software and the device is still not working :smileysad:

Re: Windows 7 x64 and QuickCam Pro 5000 (A.K.A. Cisco VT Camera)

The QuickCam 5000 Pro is now supported in Windows 7

Here is the link.

Re-install & Choose Custom Install and unselect Logitech Vid.if you have a stability issue after initial installation.

If window says it is incompatable with this version, click on the install anyway button.

Re: Windows 7 x64 and QuickCam Pro 5000 (A.K.A. Cisco VT Camera)

Kudos for this fix. I can also report success following these instructions...

,,,except for a minor typographical error (".ini" should be ".inf". I fixed it in the following, added text that I hope will help other greehorns, and renumbered some steps, but the basics remain the same. Again, major thanks to mrosenecker; how do you people learn these tricks??? :-)

1)  Download the latest driver from Logitech's website for Vista x64 for the QCP 5000 [QuickCam Pro 5000].

2)  From a non-Windows 7 PC (or from XP Mode), run the installer.  Let it extract all of the files, and DO NOT PROCEED through the installation process (or if it errors, keep the error message open).

3) Go to the Temp folder where the files were extracted (in my case, in XP Mode, it was C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp\QuickCam_11.1.0)  COPY (don't Move) this folder to a location that's accessible to your Windows 7 system.

4)  For Cisco VT users, go into the \QuickCam_11.1.0\Drivers\x64\PRO464 folder [found in the location where you copied the extracted files] and edit the lPRO464v.inf file.  Do a find-and-replace, finding 08C5 [that's zero-eight-cee-five] and replacing it with 08C7 [again, that's a zero in there] (this essentially makes the ini file identify your Cisco VT device ID as a QCP 5000).  [You may replace all occurrences of "08C5"]. Save and close the ini file.

5)  [On your Windows 7 PC] Go into Devices and Printers [Start > Devices and Printers].  Go into the properties for the USB Composite Device [by right-clicking it and choosing "Properties"], find the Unknown Composite Device, and update the driver ["Hardware" tab > USB Composite device > "Properties" button, "Driver" tab, "Update driver" button].  Select to manually specify the driver location.  Point it to the \QuickCam_11.1.0\Drivers\x64\PRO464 folder, and you should be all set.

Re: Windows 7 x64 and QuickCam Pro 5000 (A.K.A. Cisco VT Camera)

I have two quickcams from Logitech that work perfectly under windows vista, xp, etc.  What is the deal with Logitech not supporting these for the Windows 7 users?

This kind of a blatent disregard for driver support is nothing shy of Planned Obsolescence on the part of Logitech.  As an end user, I wish that were not case.  Additionally, as it appears to actually be the case, it would be nice if Logitech would excercise a little Producer Responsibility and take back the now unsupported hardware and take responsibility for their intentional creation of landfill and electronic waste by not supporting perfectly good hardware with necessary current software.

If any other Windows 7 users are upset that their perfectly good hardware is no longer supported by Logitech, Inc., please make your voices known.  Planned Obsolescense not only fills our landfills, contaminates the environment, and results in the intentional overuse of resources (to produce the new product designed to replace the old one), it also drains each one of our pocketbooks in the amount of the cost of a new camera.   Not only is the act of purposefully planning to make an item obsolescent an insult to me as the end user, the expectation that I will "just go buy another" further insults my intellect.  Call my rant "left-wingish" or "liberal": call it what you will, but my political views really don't have much to do with the truth of my statements regarding this kind of corporate behavior.   I refuse to support this kind of corporate bullying of the consumer.  Not only will I never buy another Logitech item, I'll make sure that my opinion is heard elsewhere regarding this obcenity.   Clearly, I'm not afraid to do that.   It's a shame that it has come to this as I have been a loyal Logitech user up until now.  I can buy my keyboards, mice, joysticks, and webcams from somebody else however, and I'm sure that it won't pain me to do so.

If Logitech has any sense about them, they'll recognize that the future of production and sale is no longer only in the quantity or quality of the item produced, but in the quality and ethical standards of the company selling that product.   My advice is to support your hardware, or you will find that less and less consumers do.

Re: Windows 7 x64 and QuickCam Pro 5000 (A.K.A. Cisco VT Camera)

[ Edited ]

It's obvious that some genius inside Logitech projected that people will go into new Logitech hw purchase faster if the support for new OS-es is delayed or missing altogether. Save cost for developer resources and increase revenue from new hw at the same time - two flies with one blow. If only customers would not replace their Logitech products faster - with non-Logitech products from manufacturers who are little more customer oriented (darn).

I am using this driver hack for some time with only one issue - when PCs go into standby (S3 mode with all fans off, ASUS P5B Deluxe and Gigabyte X38), QC5000 does not wake up. I need to reconnect it to USB to restore the functionality. Anyone having the same issue?

Re: Windows 7 x64 and QuickCam Pro 5000 (A.K.A. Cisco VT Camera)

Hi All,

Thanks a lot for sharing the details on installing LogiTech QuickCam Pro 5000 drivers for Cisco VT Camera; it's working fine for us.

BTW, do we have an MSI file with these drivers? actually, we need to deploy the drivers for all our users (~3000) and we don't know how to automate the installation.

I tried creating an MSI using Advanced Installer, but it seems it failed to capture all the action perfomed during the driver installation. When I insatll the MSI, it's not detecting the camera.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

Re: Windows 7 x64 and QuickCam Pro 5000 (A.K.A. Cisco VT Camera)

I have Windows 7 Home Edition and QuickCam Pro 5000 and successfully installed drivers.

There is the instruction I proceeded:

1. Downloaded drivers from

http://logitech-louk.navisite.net/web/ftp/pub/techsupport/quickcam/qc1051enu_x64.exe

(size 94.8Mb, file version 4.0.100.1190 )

2. Using program 7-zip extracted exe file to folder qc1051enu_x64\

3. I did not make any changes to inf files

4. I installed drivers pointing to folder \qc1051enu_x64\Drivers\x64\PRO364

5. Windows 7 found drivers required. During installation system asked me to reboot, which I did

6. Camera started working properly which I checked in skype and on web http://www.mebeam.com/test-room

After success I tried installation of the program with success also .

Program installs properly in Vista SP2 compliance mode.

During installation I unchecked option to check for updates of the program.

(I was afraid that any updates found will destroy all my efforts)

During installation you also need to reboot PC.

It is also possible that simple installation of qc1051enu_x64.exe in Vista SP2 mode installs all drivers required so you would not have to perform manual installation as above but I did not check it.

After installation program  works stable.

Unfortunately I can not change settings like brightness or contrasts.

It's a small issue and can live with it till Logitech develops new Windows 7 drivers for the camera.

I am now again happy QCP 5000 user :smileyhappy:
