Can't recognise or connect to receiver

After much effort I am almost giving up on setting up my wireless dj receiver:
Problems: Receiver won't connect
*Transmitter appears fine - green tick in setup screen
*Remote control is accessing my library perfectly - can see all playlists and tracks
*BUT: Computer will not recognise the room receiver: In streampoint settings it is not in the available list and in set-up it says connection failed. However, I do have a blue light on the receiver!

Solutions tried (on guess that its a receiver problem)
*I have tried resetting the receiver via the button on back (and following instruction) a number of times but this does nothing - just hangs whilst the receivers lights flash endlessly.
*I have changed the distance between it and the transmitter from 1m to 5m no success.
*I have also turned off all other household wifi and phone products.
*I have checked that I have .net framework, etc.. installed.
*Turning off McAfee didn't seem to work - and regardless, I wouldn't want to turn off antivirus !
I had a similar issue to some other users (from forum) in installing the hardware in that windows told me that it had not installed correctly - but similarly could not find the right drivers.

Questions!
*Is there an obvious solution to the above?
*Is there a driver that I need to manually install in order for this to work?

Re: Can't recognise or connect to receiver

I installed my new wireless DJ Music System last night and had a similar problem.  I then got it working by unplugging the power connector on the back of the docking station during the installation process -- the red light turned solid blue very quickly.  I spent maybe 30 minutes working on the audio levels because it was over driving the speakers in my whole house audio system (I have 14 in-wall speakers connected to a central device that allows individual room volume control).  Found that I had to set the volume on the remote to the first dot and use my room control volume controls for higher listening levels.  Depending on what I play, pressing the "+" button up one or more dots distorts the sound coming from the speakers.  After fiddling around and getting the volume adjusted so I could turn the speakers up without apparent distortion, I was thinking that this was pretty cool.  This is when I screwed up!  I went and moved Itunes up over Windows Media player.  This lost the room I'd created (after finally getting the receiver recognized) and put me back to square one.  Now I've been experimenting using every possible iteration trying to get the receiver recognized again to no avail.  I even switched Windows Media player back to being the primary player but still no luck.

It seems to me that the only reasonable conclusion is that the software for adding new rooms / receivers is defective.  Perhaps the posted beta solves this problem...

If anyone knows the secret to reliably recognizing the receiver so you can create a new room, please reply.

I have a similar issue where the receiver/dock looses the connection with the USB transmitter when I haven't used the remote for more than 1/2 hour or so (red light appears on the receiver/dock), and the remote will not work (the "freeze on OK" issue). The only way that I am able to regain the connection is to unplug the receiver/dock and plug it back in again. Presto - red light gone, blue light appears. I have to do this each time. Is there a fix for this or a setting that I am missing?

Re: Can't recognise or connect to receiver

The red light is actually what the receiver is supposed to do after a set time. The blue light means the device is actively streaming from the computer, the red light is when it stops streaming and goes into standby.

As for the 'freeze on OK' issue, the resolution so far is to update to Streampoint Beta Version 3, but if you have already done that then not sure of the next step. However, if you have a large collection the amount of time the remote takes to resume from standby I presume wll be longer than for someone with a small collection?

Thanks. I am using Beta 3, but I do also have a large iTunes library. The remote typically freezes for upwards of 30 min. Once I unplug/plug the receiver/dock back in, then everything works smoothly again. Any suggested setting modifications that I should make?

I am using Windows XP.

Try increasing the size of the memory cache. You can get a number of programs that will do it for you, such as SiSoft's Sandra; System mechanic etc.but try here first: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308417

It is also helpful if you can do without all the visual affects, such as whizz bang icons and wallpapers.

Also iTunes has its own buffer. Choose Preferences/Advanced and you can adjust the buffer, the default seems to be 'medium'. I moved mine to 'large'.

Doing all this should smooth the audio stream, and may even minimise connection drop outs. I am not sure how to resolve the freezing problem with the remote itself though, although you could try uninstalling and then reinstalling Streampoint.

.NET Framework 1.1 is also required. If you are using .NET Framework 2.0 there appears to be some conflicts which create freezing.

I am in the UK and have no problems. I have contributed to another thread by asking whether these problems are region related, bearing in mind different software iterations for region functionality ( I am talking WMP etc. not Logitech Streampoint). Where are you?

Hope this helps.

Re: Can't recognise or connect to receiver

Thanks again. I am in the U.S.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled Streampoint, but I have not tried your other suggestions. I will try these tonight and will let you know if I see any improvements.

Re: Can't recognise or connect to receiver

I have asked Bill to confirm whether this may be a region-related issue
