I just bought a Logitech WMS system for my portable MP3 player (not an iPod). Yes, it works as advertised with the MP3 player.
I was also hoping to be able to connect the little Bluetooth transmitter to my computer's audio output (while the computer is streaming audio from Internet radio such as live365.com) so that I could play the audio through one of the bigger stereo systems in the family room or in the living room. While this seemed to be a good idea, the transmitter ran out of range about 10 feet away from the computer. I guess it only has 33 feet of range.
I noticed on this site that there is another transmitter that has 300 feet of range? My questions are:
- Is this bigger transmitter (with the USB interface) compatible with the iPod WMS system? (I would assume yes.)
- Can this USB tranmitter be purchased separately just by itself?
- How can I increase the range of the iPod transmitter (without tearing any walls down in the house)?

I believe the Bluetooth spec is 330 ft. That is of course in a lab with ideal conditions and no interference at all. I found the real world to be a much more hostile environment. In my home environment I get about 60 to 70 ft. I have every source of interference under the sun. I have a wireless router within 1 meter of the transmitter which also has a 300 ft range so it sends out a lot of interference. I have four 2.4 GHz phones. I am beaming it through 3 walls, 2 refrigerators and the junction box where the power connects to my house. In essence a 2.4 GHz nightmare.
basically every source of interference will shorten your range. Not much that can be done other than to re-orient things to get the optimal range.

It will work with the WMS system.
There are three different Bluetooth standards. The USB Transmitter has the 300 ft range (barring interference mentioned in the previous post).
The iPod (or mp3 player) transmitter has the 33 ft (again, barring infererence) range.
I purchased the transmitter from Woot.com. I'm sure you can find it elsewhere though.
