Re: Logitech G27 announced... and no Xbox 360 support...Rââââââ!

yes to everyyything submitted below.

i've long been (and despite agreeing with this thread) will continue to be a fan and supporter of logitech.

and yes, the G25 is simply the best wheel i've ever used.

but the problem with 'any' logitech wheel working with the xbox is not a problem with logitech not making their wheels support the xbox - but the prob. is vice versa.

my g25 (and ''any'' logitech wheel) was simply plug-n-play perfect with my PS3 - which was so awesome (not even any drivers or other config files required to use it - just plug it in the usb and it worked right away.

this of course does not work with the xbox.

with the demise of NASCAR09 and after getting into Forza3 - and after going through ''3'' ms wheels (small/skinny/cheap plastic mounts supporting the metal plate that the forcefeedback motor sits on kept snapping after a while) - i called logitech to complain about this very problem - why does any of their wheels apart from the Logitech DriveFX not work with the xbox - and why can't i buy any Logitech DriveFX wheels any more.

It turns out that MS demanded from Logitech a hefty ''licencing fee'' for the 'privilege' of making a wheel that supports xbox.

Logitech ''of course'' refused to pay this fee to MS - sooooo no xbox compatible logitech wheel- i.e. we all suffer.

So it seems to me that it is not Logitech that is not supporting xbox, but rather it is MS that is not supporting their own product.

Am desperate to get a descent wheel for the xbox 360 so if anyone knows of one would be cool to be told.

cheers all - and happy racing

To add to this it seems that the M$ wheel is being discontinued as BB is clearancing them out and there is no record of the wheel on the xbox site or the site of BB.

So it seems that there are only two wheel inless that is now discontinued the MC or Fan.

EDIT

acutally it seems that the fan one is the only wheel as the MC isnt out till holidays

Re: Logitech G27 announced... and no Xbox 360 support...WHAT'S THE POINT??????!!!!!....

[ Edited ]

But why isn't there any support for Xbox 360, i searching for a racing wheel for a year now, that is compatible with PC (Dirt 2,NFS Shift etc) and Xbox 360 (Forza 3). The only alternative is Fanatec and even Microsoft doesn't have a racing wheel anymore. Or does MS not allow it or support it?

Re: Logitech G27 announced... and no Xbox 360 support...Rââââââ!

i've been searching for the last week now. Ever since i got racing fever with playing NFS:smileyfrustrated:hift, i want a wheel badly. I read all the good stuff about the G25 and was going to settle for the M$ wheel, knowing it wasn't as good but no choice.

I read all the forums and some of the disgust with Logitech for not coming out with a wheel for Microsuck. It was painful to read Charles cryptic posts as he wrote between the lines in saying Logitech tried, they'd love to sell to the 360 market, but MS is the bottleneck here.

After all the pissing MS did in this little turf war with Logitech to keep them from making a force feedback wheel while they created 4 generations of their own cheaper, gear shiftless, breakable and smoke inducing wheel, they've finally given up because they're pinning all their hopes and Natal/Kinect/flap your arms like a bird and race addon.

ITS FREAKIN ANNOYING.  i dont have $400 to fire off for the Fanatac wheel. I'd settle for the driveFX but thats not available either. As of right now, there are no MS wheels in stock everywhere i look, Madcatz pretty much stated MS is out, so that leaves me only 1 overpriced wheel to look at. NOT AN OPTION!

This isn't Logitechs fault and i feel bad that they took any flack on this. It probably took an arm and leg just to get the driveFX out.

Regardless, i am just really hoping now that Microsuck has bowed out of making wheels, they finally allow all 3rd parties access to their forcefeedback licencing/whatever in order to allow logitech to make a G25/27 style wheel for them, or to allow for drivers to be written to allow current models to run on the 360's usb ports. i dont know what else to say.

i WILL be emailing Microsoft support in the morning, and i WILL be demanding an answer from them regarding their side of the story as to why they have been unable to come to terms with Logitech while allowing MadCatz to produce 3rd party forcefeedback wheels. i will also tell them that for a console to have only ONE wheel option until christmas because they ditched their own 1st party line is inexusable and i will not be buying any future iterations of XBOX ### systems ever. i may even trade my current one in now for a ps3 with GT5 and NFS:smileyfrustrated:hift, ill be as happy as a pig in $#!7. playstation is finally getting a game library comparable and there is zero excuse for M$ to have left its racing user base (newbies included) in this firghtful mess.

as an aside, someone told me microsoft might create a patch to allow these to be used, as they have opened up usb drives to be used as save devices now. i can only hope there is some truth to this, but from what has been argued about the differences between HID  and XID devices.

anyways, all this just makes me want to go shoot myself. all i wanted was a freaking good racing experience.
