Wireless Drum Controller Compatibility Question

I have:

  • Ion Drum Rocker for Xbox 360 - all three cymbals.
  • Rock Pedal with a practice pad for the kick drum.

Unfortunately, the Ion controller isn't living up to my standards for reliability and I'm looking at seeing what my options are for replacing it. I like the pads and the cymbals, and I really like my Rock Pedal; I'm looking to see what my options are for replacing the controller.

  1. Do the Logitech drums work with Rock Band 2 and Beatles Rock Band as well as Guitar Hero World Tour?
  2. Can I use my Rock Pedal as a kick drum pedal instead of the stock pedal that comes with the kit?
  3. Can the Ion pads work with the Logitech controller?
Thanks!

Re: Wireless Drum Controller Compatibility Question

I've used it on Rock Band 2 without any problems.  I assume it works with Beatles as well.

The Rock Pedal won't work with it just like it doesn't with the stock Guitar Hero kit.  The Guitar Hero pedals use piezo sensors like the pads do.  While rock band & Ion just used a on/off magnetic sensor.  The Roadie Kick Rocker Pedal is an example of a possible solution.

The Ion pads should work with it, since the Kick Rocker is pretty much an Ion pad being hit with a beater.  But you'd need a bunch of 1/4" to 1/8" cables or adapters.

You can use the Rockpedal with the GH drums from Logitech IF you have something to convert it. I use the Rockpedal with the Logitech drums and it works great. Absolutely no issues. I purchased an Omega Twin rocker RB -> GH adapter on advice from Jordan at Rockpedal. It cost me $30 with shipping. Expensive ? Definitely. Did it make a difference over the GH Logitech piece of crap pedal. By leaps and bounds for me. I could immediately play the songs I was failing on.

I can play RB2 without issues. I think Rb1 will work if you import the songs to Rb2. Since I have RB on the 360 and the drums are for the PS3, I cannot confirm this.

I can confirm that you can use the Logitech GH pedal and the Rockpedal Rockband pedal AT THE SAME TIME using this adapter. Yes you read right.

I almost was leaning towards the Ion. But the extra orange lane, a perfect pedal (rockpedal) that I already had and what seems to be a reliable drumset from Logitech won me over the Ions. The "Ion Customer service" is I'm given to understand, an oxymoron.

Re: Wireless Drum Controller Compatibility Question

Hi

This post is to IndusDrummer and others on this forum. I noticed it sounds like you are playing Rock Band games with your Logitech Premium Drums. I just recently bought these drums and they work great with Guitar Hero games but I have been unable to use them with any Rock Band games. I can navigate through the menus for setup, etc.. I can not get into the actual play modes though. I keep getting a message saying something like "No microphone detected." I am not attempting to play as a singer but rather it seems to detect the drum controller as a drum kit until I get to that point.

Does anyone out there have any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Speaking of doing wrong, my apologies if I am improperly using this forum. This is my first post, hence the name NooBee.

I bought these drums partly because I saw videos on YouTube of people playing them with Rock Band 2. It sounds like you have done so as well.

Thanks

NooBee
