Logitech s715i questions

[ Edited ]

Can't find a link to just send a general questions e-mail to Logitech, so I figured here's the next best thing as I'd forget to make a call in the morning.

So on to the questions.

Is the battery in the s715i replaceable, and if so is it replaceable by the user?

Does the s715i work off just the ac power if the battery dies and is not replaceable?

As long as I purchase the item new and have receipts the item is covered under warranty right? I've read from an auction the person says Logitech might not accept the item under warranty as they are not an authorized dealer.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!

Joe

Edit: I ended up remembering and called and had all my questions answered, so all is well now. Thanks!

Re: Logitech s715i questions

Hey Koosh7

I'm glad you called in and got your answers, I'll post for future forum seekers.

The S715I does have a rechargeable battery that can be replaced by the user, and purchased at our part store if needed. You just unscrew a door on the back to access it.

I just did a test in our lab, we removed the battery and only using the ac adapter Bob Marely played beautifully.

If the product is bought from a retailer and not a private seller than the product has a two year limited hardware warranty, you may need to provide your receipt, in some instances we will pay for shipment of your part to us if a receipt is not available.

Best Regards

Re: Logitech s715i questions

HI there!

I just bought the S715i and I can not tell enough how satisfied I am with this purchase. The sound is amazing for such little price, so thank you Logitech people!

Now my questions. I am wondering if the rechargeable battery is replaceable once it dies. If so, what's is the model of the battery and where could I find it.

The second question is, would it damage the battery  faster if I keep it 99% of the time plugged to the wall outlet? I only use it running on the battery for short periods of time a day, then I plug it back in. Is that detrimental for the battery as well?

As you can see, I am concern that my wonderfull speakers won't last me a long time :smileyhappy:

Thank you in advance for reading and answering my questions.

Re: Logitech s715i questions

Hello ACM1977,

The Battery is replaceable and it is a part that can be purchased through Logitech.com as shown here: S715I replacement parts. Keeping the dock plugged into an AC outlet will not affect the battery life at all.

Re: Logitech s715i questions

I have - and love - the s715i speakers.  But this week, when I put my iPhone 4 on the dock, my phone gave me "the accessory is not compatiable with the iPhone" message and my iPhone stopped playing music through the speakers.  It still looks like it is getting a charge from the speakers though.

Not sure what to do - is this a result of upgrading my iphone software? The iPhone had no issue playing through the speakers, responding to the remote, etc until this week.

Re: Logitech s715i questions

Hello ryanbc,

I have tried resetting the dock by turning it off and on and pressing and holding down the power button until it blinks. Also try resetting your iphone as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430.

Re: Logitech s715i questions

I just tried resetting both the speakers and the iphone.  still doesn't work, still getting "This accessory is not supported by iphone" message.  my older ipod nano still works in the speakers with no problem.

Re: Logitech s715i questions

Hi ryanbc,

Do you have any other iOS devices you can test on the speaker? If not please contact customer care in your region for a warranty inquiry.
