Re: Pure Fi Anytime Distorted sound

[ Edited ]
Number 4 started distorting this morning for a brief time, meaning it will start getting worse as the days progress as normal, they seem to be failing faster these days >< time for number 5 i guess.

Re: Pure Fi Anytime Distorted sound

I telephoned customer service today. Person was 'friendly and apologetic'. I have been advised to return to retailer and request one with an AE model number of AE9##. I asked "What should I do if the store doesn't have such stock?" The advice was to tell them "Order one in as all their distributors stock this model, so they will be able to obtain the same." I recommend you do the same. I wont be taking an AE8## home, I will be advising the store send them back, based on what the customer service representative at Logitech told me. I WONT be making 4 trips to the retailer. I will make one trip... wait 'patiently' for the new model to arrive in the store... when and if my patience expires I will take the matter further. Re: Pure Fi Anytime Distorted sound

It has not been my experience as asserted by Mike_M that "The Anytimes in question show this symptom immediately. If you don't have the issue, it will not develop over time."

All 3 units I have had which developed this problem were ok initially.  The problem has developed within 2-4 weeks, at first mildly and going away after the unit had been on for a while, then with increasing distortion until such time as it has been severe and constantly present.  At which time you can confidently take it back to the retailer knowing it will not annoyingly work fine when they turn it on to listen to it.

All the units developed the problem within a month with daily use of around 1-2 hours.   So if you have had a unit for maybe 2-3 months of daily use and it hasn't developed the problem then maybe it won't (can't say - mine never got that far).

Hi,

I have had this same problem for  a couple of months. I got my radio for my birthday in January 2009, and around April it starting becominng distorted. That was of course after me and my family went away on holidays for 2 weeks, came back and BOTH me AND my sisters radios were distorted.

We are very very disapointed with logitech that such a simple thing like the weather could affect this brilliant product.

We plan to take both back and buy a total different brand if there are no other problems with your other products....

Thankyou

Jessica.

Re: Pure Fi Anytime Distorted sound

well heres another problem for the unit in the last two or three days the temperature has been around minus 2 degrees and i had the alarm set on buzzer because the radio part is already distorted but when the alarm went off all i got was a short beep then got nothing at all. Then i tried turning on the radio and it came on for about one second and then turned it self off. Even tried the AUX but it displayed for about one second and same thing it shut it self down and the AUX / FM /AM /BEEP dissapears off the Display just the time stays displayed. So i think it is time for Logitech to finally recall all there faulty ones.

What ever happend to the Consumer allways comes first policy well thats a load of **bleep** they need to just bite the bullet and recall or better still replace with a better or improved model....

Had the unit for about 3 months now and all the problems are now here to stay now its cold. The unit is now hopless to me now as it wouldnt wake up the Dead since nothing works anymore.

Also you can ring up as many times as you like to get a case number ..... You can PM the case number as many times as you like on here..... but best of all you never ever hear from anyone at all once you make a complaint.

Logitech just hopes by then you have missplaced the receipt by then like i have and never worry about you again.

Re: Pure Fi Anytime Distorted sound

I have the solution for all owners of Pure Fi Anytime. Get your warranty claim number from logitech, go back to the store and explain to them how the units are faulty. If they don't believe you the answer is simple, do what I did. Turn your unit on and get them to listen to it. Then... wander over to the shelf where the store one is on display and voila... it distorts too! Most of the stores have units that have been on display for around 3 months or more and no longer work. This unit is SO SO predictable. It is like a time bomb waiting to go off. EVERY unit I have encountered fails after 2 - 4 months.

So, what did I do then? I told the store about the problem and suggested they return all the units to Logitech. Both the stores where I purchased the units (I owned more than one Pure Fi); had lots of units on the shelf. NONE of them (we tried 20+) were of the AE9## series. Both stores were more than happy to accept the return unit and I paid the extra money to buy the Sony ipod docking station. Granted the Sony's sound is not as good as the original sound from the Pure Fi, but it has all the other features and no reports of distortion after thee months.

Stop playing around with the Pure Fi... you are wasting your time. I am more than happy now! This will be my last contribution to the forum as I no longer own a distortion box!

P.S.

I still enjoy turning on the Pure Fi units in each electronics store. They all distort and it drives the sales people insane.

Cheers

Peter

Re: Pure Fi Anytime Distorted sound

Good on you, Peter.

Someone needs to put a bomb under Logitech for this unit, as it is clearly unsuitable for sale.

I bought mine through the Apple online store in Sydney. They replaced it once and then agreed to a refund after I reported the replacement ad also faulty. At least they have the good sense to help us deal with crap.

Re: Pure Fi Anytime Distorted sound

I support Peter.

I have just returned my second unit with distorted sound. I logged a case number with Logitech support each time. The second unit started to distort after a month, the first took about twice as long. All stock in the store were the old EA8 batch numbers. I was offered store credit (thanks Tandy) and got a Sony unit as replacement.

Logitech needs to do something about removing from the market what are obviously faulty products. Replacing one faulty product with another is not a solution.

Re: Pure Fi Anytime Distorted sound

[ Edited ]

I Have the Distorted sound problem also, i bought it back in novenber last year and i went into **bleep** Smith/Tandy last night and got a receipt reprinted, they said they will send it off, Logitech will gice them a credit and they will wswap it over. It has nothing to do with hot or cold weather. I did notice the MOD saying "if it's not happening from the start it will not happen", all i can say to that is stop talking crap, mine was fine at the start and after 2 months it started doing it.

As someone else mentioned about actually admitting there is a fault, no one has admitted yet and are trying to deny it when it is proven there is a fault.

This is still not solved, so i have no idea why it is marked solve, i think someone needs to get over themselves, in no way has any MOD helped at all frm reading this thread, im gonna speak to tandy and see if i can get something else, i printed up these pages so they can see how recen the problems are
