My PureFi Anywhere 2 speakers are turning off as well.  The only thing that fixes it is to plug it back into the AC outlet.  This is not the way to fix the problem when you want portable music.  Sounds like from this thread that this product is defective to begin with and should be recalled.  I will be taking mine back a getting something else because resetting it doesn't work.

It's time for consumers to realize that Logitech is going to do NOTHING about this unit. If you bought one and it demonstrates the problems laid out in this forum...tough luck!  Stop complaining. No one cares. Just spread the word among your friends and spare THEM from buying one. I solved my problems by buying a Bose Sound Dock II. The remote does not provide as much control as the PureFi, but it WORKS! All the time.

I also have this problem with my Pure-Fi Anywhere - it cuts our regularly whether on mains on battery power.  The problem is actually worse than with the mm50 which cuts out on battery power but at least it keeps playing on mains power.

I have reset the unit (many times) but it does not make any difference. I have also tried the workaround of setting the iPod volume high (more than 80%) before inserting it into the Pure-Fi Anywhere.  This can sometimes keep it going for quite long periods - the maximum I have achieved is around an hour.  The problem is (as others have doubtless noticed) the Pure-Fi Anywhere dynamically alters the iPod volume according to loud or soft passages, so any initial iPod setting is soon overridden by the Pure-Fi Anywhere.

A further problem with the Pure-Fi Anywhere, not present with the mm50, is that the speakers make an extremely loud and unpleasant 'cracking' sound on very loud passages when on battery power.  The sound is like high voltage arcing and is so loud that it causes a shock to the listener.

Can someone please help me obtain a fix for these problems.  I feel sure they are due to firmware design issues - is there a firmware update I can download?

I am also having this problem.  It is really unfortunate.  I understand the need for a battery saver function, but I wish it could be turned off.  I want to be able to plug my laptop into it for better sound when watching movies.  But when there are breaks in the dialogue, the darn speakers shut down.  It has even shut down when there is active audio occurring.

I get the whole thing about turning up the source audio, but again, not very satisfying.  I'll try it, but I'd say there's a good chance I'll return this thing to Best Buy.

I'm having the same annoying problem.

currently the unit is plugged to my computer through a jack

I've noticed that :

- the problem comes back every time I unplug the jack from my comptuter

- to reset the unit, it has to be on battery (unplug the power wire)

Just exchanged my 2nd PFA2 at the Apple store because the unit flat-out died (won't charge, won't turn on) after exchanging my first one for the aux jack issue.  Open up my *third* one and, same aux jack issue.  Resetting the unit doesn't work and the higher source volume trick works sometimes.  The kicker though is that when I returned the 2nd PFA2 yesterday the new retail price is $149.95, $20 more expensive than the last one I bought.  The fact that Logitech not only continues to sell this product without any in-box documentation about this "feature" but that they'd charge more for the same seemingly defective product is outrageous.  I used to be a fan of Logitech but this seems pretty shady.  It'd be one thing if they didn't know about the problem with this feature (and the fact that you're not saving battery power when the unit is plugged in) but the company has acknowledged the issue and proceeds with sales providing little refuge to customers other than multiple exchanges. 

As an Apple retail employee, I advise people against purchasing this (and any other Logitech) product on a daily basis for these reasons.  The ironic part is that I paid full price for this because the Logitech discount site for retail partners was out of this product.

I've been having the same problem and it seems to getting worse all the time. I tried the 75% workaround and so far, it's working decently enough, and I'm listening to an online lecture, so there are many pauses. Still, I agree that we shouldn't have to cook up secret tricks to make the device work like it's supposed to work.

But I'm posting to ask a different question. Like many others here, I love the sound on these speakers, and the ability to run my laptop through it via the auxilary jack. I need a second set, but I'm on a tight budget, so I was thinking about buying the Anywhere v. 1 speakers from Amazon for $50. From what I've read, the changes made to the device between the v. 1 and v. 2 are not all that relevant to me. My question is this: do the Pure-Fi Anywhere v. 1 speakers have this same defect? If they do, I'll look elsewhere, but if it's exclusively a flaw of the Anywhere 2 version, I'll give them a shot.

Well, I can verify that this problem exists on two separate PF-As as well as my mm50. Having studied this problem in some depth I am sure it is due to deliberate firmware design to extend battery life; moreover it is almost certainly generic across the range of Logitech's portable (battery powered) iPod speakers. I also have the problem with the PureFi Anywhere 2 cutting out after a minute or two.  I got a reply from the Logitech support centre advising me to reset the unit and that if that did not work, to take the unit back.

However, my wife and I had bought a unit each - and both do not work.  So like the other submitters to the forum, I do not see any point in getting my unit replaced.  So I propose to take it back for a refund.  I agree with all the correspondants who express their disappointment with Logitech's lack of professional integrity on this issue.  They should offer to replace the component with something that works reliably.

I've had the same problem. Bought the speakers today. It seems to turn itself off in the middle of Goretski's 3rd symphony after about 12 minutes 9 seconds. Pressing the pause button sometimes starts it again. This is a piece which starts very quietly and slowly grows louder.

In addition when I plugged in the adaptor there was a large spark.

Given these faults and that I listen to classical music which has long pieces of varying volume should I return the product and get my money back?
