S715i Possible to get replacement remote under warranty?

I recently bought a S715i and I am having some issues with the remote intermittently not working. Tried replacing the batteries and doing a full reset to no avail. When pressing one of the buttons the remote, the speaker shows no change. Sometimes pulling the battery out and putting it back makes it work and other times just pressing somewhat hard on one of the round buttons (power, play/pause) seems to get the remote working properly again.

I don’t want to send the whole speaker in because of the hassles of shipping. Would it be possible to just send the remote in a padded envelope or small package for replacement?

Re: S715i Possible to get replacement remote under warranty?

I bought this new s715i rechargable speakers for ipod/iphone and just got delivered today. The device looks and sounds absolutely great. However, one problem is that the remote just doesn't seem to work atall. I tried flipping the batteries but to no avail.. Can anyone help me with this?? Is there a way how logitech could send me a replacement remote - something that works???

Re: S715i Possible to get replacement remote under warranty?

The remote for the s715i has a problem by design. (or poor material during manufacture)

The spring that makes contact with the outer perimeter/edge of the battery is not strong enough to make good contact.

I usually get a paper clip or something similar to bend it upwards so it makes better contact.

After a while though it will go back to not working. Most of the time a quick in out of the battery is enough to get it working again, failing that, re-adjust the spring again.

Unless this component was upgrading during later versions, I'd imagine all the remotes can suffer from this problem.

Hope this helps. I've had returned a few units to amazon in the past, but always the problem re-occurs. The s715s (where at least back then) the best sounding dock on the market for the money, so I decided to live with it.
