S715i going into standby overnight

I have just purchased the S715i and am extremely pleased with it apart from one issue...

When leaving it on overnight, by the morning it has gone into standby/turned itself off.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, however I am using a clock radio alarm app (ooTunes), which basically wakes you up with an iPod track or your desired radio station, and by the time morning comes the S715i has switched off and I don't hear anything and don't wake up!

Is this just a design feature that cannot be changed? Or do you think my S715i may be faulty?

The alarm clock app worked great on my old ipod dock and this was one of the main things I wanted to use the S715i for :smileysad:

Re: S715i going into standby overnight

I can leave my S715I on forever and it won't power off. I use mine with a jack and a Sansa Clip+ therefore nothing docked. This doesn't solve your problem but may help to isolate your issue. Have you called tech support?.

Re: S715i going into standby overnight

If I leave my S715i on it turns into sleep/standby mode after a while!

Please can someone help me?

Re: S715i going into standby overnight

Hi All,

Are you using the battery power or the adapter when this is occurring?

Cheers!

Re: S715i going into standby overnight

I'm using the adapter because the s715i is empty, so I load my storage battery up but then it turns into standby!

Re: S715i going into standby overnight

I'm having the exact same problem as you are having. I basically bought the S715i for using as alarm clock / charing dock so my iPhone 4 would be fully charged everyday as I dock it overnight, and the speakers would feature as the alarm clock.

But when trying this with my Alarm Clock Pro app, plugging the S715i to the wall outlet and preventing my iPhone 4 from sleeping while charging (can be configured within the Alarm Clock Pro settings) I get no sound what so ever the next morning.

This seems to be because the S715i has entered a idle / standby mode when not being used for a while (even when running on power not batteries) and it WILL NOT wake up when my iPhone 4 tries to use it.

This is a serious design flaw if there doesn't exist any workaround for it. This renders the whole point of using the S715i as a charging dock useless. Let's say I was using my S715i for music, then I stop if for a while leaving my iPhone4 in the S715i dock and someone calls me one hour later when it has entered idle / standby mode I would not actually be able to hear anyone calling me because the iPhone 4 still thinks the sound goes through the dock / S715i while it doesn't play nothing.

Re: S715i going into standby overnight

Hi,

I have the same problem. I plugged my iPhone in yesterday evening and this morning there was no sound when my alarm was going off .... The S715i was on net power with his adapter.

Is there any solution? I've just bought it yesterday and this was the main reason (apart from using it as a radio of course).

Thanks!

Bart

PS: The sound itself is really good (when it is not in standby) :smileyhappy:

Re: S715i going into standby overnight

Hi,

Same problem here. Bought it two days ago and thought i did not switched the i715i on before bed, but did some tests yesterday and it indeed shutsdown while connected to a wall socket. This is really wrong, even if I can't use it as alarm clock, what if I leave my iphone in the dock and someone gives me a call?

So logitech...any solutions?

Could not agree with you more. Some engineer was asleep at the wheel. I wanted to use it as an alarm clock...wound up returning it.

Logitech, are you listening? And if so, why have you not responded?
