setting up S315i Rechargeable speaker for my I Pod Nano 5th Generation - no sound yet!

I plugged the Logitech S315i speaker for MP3s  into a wall outlet but it is not working. The power is on because I see the green light on the speaker.  But the only sound is from my mp3 player- Apple I Pod Nano 5th Generation. No sound is coming from the Logitech speaker. I put the IPod Nano in the base of the speaker where it is supposed to go. I think or hope I did it right. I plugged the connection into the speaker in the rear of the Logitech speaker where the diagram shows, and the other part of the connection was plugged into the wall outlet. I turned the Logitech speaker on - both to the center position and also tried to the right position, both located in the rear of the speaker.  But no sound is coming  from the speaker - only from the MP3 player. Help!

I went to a store and found out the case has to be removed.

If you put a case on an apple product to protect it you need to remove it before docking or else the connection wont be secure enough to product sound.

Kind Regards
