Hi,
I am currently testing the Logitech IO2 Software and Pen for my company and i am able to get the Logitech paper working with the software as it should do. I have recently come into possesion of several notepads including;
Oxford easybook;
Black n' Red digital notebook.;
However, i am unable to get any images from the above and it prompts me for the PAD Files, and i was wondering if anyone had any solutions for this and if so could they e-mail me at
The error message reads:
"Your pen contains pages written on an unknown paper. The data will safely remain in the pen until you get the PAD Files onto your computer. You will then be able to download the data from your pen to your computer"
Regards.

Edit: Removed Destiny, managed to get it working in the end.

Nigel2007 wrote:Hi MalcolmThere are other people in these forums that are much better placed than me to develop new PAD files, as they are Anoto development partners and have access to dev kits and technical documentation & support.I think it would be difficult (for me) to create new PAD files from scratch. But I have see that it is possible to modify existing PAD files to get them to work with new notebooks, as I have done this myself. However, I found it needed a lot of testing to iron-out the bugs. Since I only have access to the Easybook M3 A4 6mm lined notebooks, this is the only PAD file I have modified. I also use the Logitech IO2 notepads, but these work fine as is. I might be induced to modify PAD files for use with other notepads if someone could supply me with blank notepads, which I could use for testing. Creating the PNG files is possible, but a bit fiddley. I reused the original Easybook PNGs, but had to scale them to get the page image to line up with the downloaded writing. Where there are no such PNG files, it would be possible to scan pages from the notebook & scale them to fit.I think the easiest way to start would be to identify which of the existing PAD files work with which notebooks. Probably the quickest way to start this would be to extract the notebook names and page address ranges from the PAD files, as I explained in my previous post. People who have examples of the notebooks could then add more details, such as TC numbers and bar code numbers. This sounds like a job for a table, or spread sheet, that we could edit collectively. I don't think there is any facility for keeping files like that on the forum. Maybe we could use something like Google docs for this?Once we've identified which notebooks are and are not supported by the existing PAD files, then we could look at which additional notebooks people need PAD file support for - There's no point doing work unless someone benefits from it.Kind regards,Nigel
Nigel and others,
(I've just returned from holiday, so apologise for coming to this late)
Your explanation of the page address numbering is correct:
e.g. 21.2125.5.3
21 = area
2125 = shelf
5 = book
3 = page (within the above book)
There are 24 books within a shelf (numbered 0 - 23) and there are 256 pages in each book (numbered 0 - 255)
Therefore a shelf of unique pattern gives you 6144 unique pages of pattern (using A4 licences)
This is what my company orders when we develop a unique pattern solution for our clients.
As far as creating new PAD files from scratch is concerned, that would be fairly problematic.
I'm sure you noticed when you were experimenting with your existing PAD files, that the PAD file contains information about the relevant licence file.
This would be difficult to do if we are trying to hand-create a brand new PAD file.
The easiest option by far (IMO) would be to try to find existing PAD files for the pages concerned, and amend those.
As far as the images are concerned, in the PAD file(s), at each 'page' section, there should be a tag describing which image to use as the background image. For A4 pages, this must have the following dimensions = 700 x 990 (A4 size in mm)
Hope this helps,
Bry...
