IO2 and Vista

Hello,

Has anyone been able to get theis combination to work? I tried downloading the last IO2 software from here, near 98% completion of the install the software locks up and installation is never completed. This was tried several times. I looked at the related threads here but the final commercial Vista seems to be slightly different so the ideas were not applicable. Many thanks. If no luck, I'll have to revert back to XP.

Re: IO2 and Vista

I have tried many variations, but no luck.  I'm returning it and advising others not to buy it.  As I understand, this may actually be a dead product and Logitech will not update it whatsoever.

Re: IO2 and Vista

DISABLE USER ACCOUNT CONTROL

None of Vista's improved security features causes more aggravation than the User Account Control. While it's meant as a helpful safeguard for preventing you (or malware) from running a program that could cause problems on your system, its tendency to pop up too often can make it more annoying than useful. Microsoft advises that you not to disable it, but if you want to lose it—and the pesky warning icon that will show up in the system tray when you do—here's how.

1. Click on the Start button, then click on Control Panel.
2. Click on User Accounts.
3. Click on User Accounts again.
4. Click on "Turn User Account Control on or off"
5. Click "Continue."
6. Uncheck the box next to "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" and click OK.
7. Reboot your computer.
8. Return to the Control Panel, then click on Security.
9. Click on Security Center.
10. Click on "Change the way Security Center alerts me"
11. Click "Don't notify me and don't display the icon (not recommended)"
Your Pen should now work in Vista...

Re: IO2 and Vista

Not as drastic as that.  Find "Vista? Alternatives to IO2 that support Vista?" thread by swirsky which works well

Re: IO2 and Vista

Glenn,
My io2 software installed and runs without problem in vista, but says it cannot recognize the paper. It is also unable to download/find new paper definitions. Can you help me please?

I am using the same standard logitech/collins a4 and a5 notebooks I sued when I ran the pen on my old XP machine.

Thanks.

Re: IO2 and Vista

Glenn; do you have a solution for people that are trying to install the io2 software for the first time on Vista Home Edition? I tried your workaround and it did not work. The software would not install.

Re: IO2 and Vista

Hey all,

I got everything to install from the disk packaged with my IO2 on my Vista Home Basic Laptop. This is what I did:

1. insert disk
2. open the folder view
3. right click on "setup.exe" (looks like the IO2 pen)
4. go to the compatibility tab
5. check the box for "compatibility mode" and "run this program in compatibility mode"
6. select "windows XP (service pack 2)"
7. click apply (then click OK to make the properties menu go away)
8. right click on "setup.exe" again, but this time choose "run as administrator"

let it install, it should work fine (at least it did for me)
good luck, all!

cheers!
