Re: io for mac

I was wondering how my IO would work with Parallels or Crossover(Anybody tried it with Crossover?). I just pulled it out of storage and have it charging on the cradle. I am going to give it a try on my wife's MacBook. So, in your shared folder can the document be opened in the Finder as a graphic document or is it converted with an OCR? I would like for my notes to stay in the original form. Or how can I save them as a PDF on the Windows side before it is converted to text?

I am still using PowerPC Macs. My wife has the MacBook and she loves it(her new boyfriend). I thought it would be a hassle moving to Intel Macs, but she can't and I can't tell the difference from the PowerPC's. She doesn't have CPU heavy apps like Photoshop, but everything else is speedy compared to her iBook. I will probably jump to the MacBook Pro after the next update to it's hardware.

It does not seem like there is anything coming through the pipeline for a Mac IO driver. If there is, at this point, it would most likely be geared to Intel Macs. So, I think using an emulator is our best bet for the time being.

Re: io for mac

Okay, I got the IO Pen to work with VPC, but not without some problems. XP would not start up because some file was missing. So I had to reinstall XP into VPC and the .NET Framework and the IO driver. After all that, I docked the pen and it downloaded(it was slow, but it did do the job) the pages to the applications. Now, I need to figure out a way to convert the notes into a PDF without having them converted to text. I don't know enough about the Windows platform to know how to do that. Can I print them straight to PDF from a printer within Windows? That would be the ideal solution. Any suggestions or help would greatly be appreciated.

Re: io for mac

How do I get it to do that in Windows XP? I am not that familiar with Windows. If I can convert the IO docs into PDF's, I would conssider that a pretty ggood solution.

Re: io for mac

I found a program "Virtual PDF Printer" that works pretty good. It feels strange buying some Windows shareware. All and all, the IO Pen is working. I just wish it was native on Mac. The performance is pretty slow and buggy, but working nonetheless(Is that supposed to be one word?).

Re: io for mac

Well, I have a $3,500 solution for a $10 problem. After looking at my wife with her new black MacBook, I had to get one. You know I had to go Pro. I then installed Bootcamp, and then a copy of Windows XP plus the Norton Security Suite (Can you see the $$$ signs floating away?). After that I installed the IO Software on the Windows side. Then 90 bucks for the sharware VitrualPDF Printer(I have not shelled out the money for that, I am using it in demo mode indefinitely).

I hate to admit it, but it works pretty darn good. Notes download quickly and no bugs as of yet. Ten times as good as with VPC. I am not sure, but it seems to run at native speeds or darn close. If you have an Intel Mac with Bootcamp and Windows give it a try. You will be very pleased. I still wish they would make a driver than ran natively on the Mac OS. I would prefer not to have to switch back and forth between operating systems to get the most out of my Pen.

Not a cost effective solution, but a solution nonetheless.

It's not an IO, but Pen-It has finally brought the underlying Anoto tech to OS X.
