[Steeler]

The ink cartridge has leaked ink throughout the ink shaft of the pen. Are there any suggestions on cleaning the pen or taking it apart to do a better job? Its a very sticky mess. Would this be something covered under warranty?

IMO: The problem should be covered by the warranty but only if you were using one of the ink catridges which was supplied with the product. If you were using a catridge not supplied then you would have to take it up with the store where purchased......
