I received this answer from Sysnet (www.sysnet.co.uk).

I wrote: “I have the Logitech Pen io2 Bluetooth and the nokia SU-1b pen and would like to know if it possible to transfer messages made in some of your papers by the progran PenMAILdirectly to the phone Nokia 6680 and transfer it as a email or MMS (directly from the phone) after its transfered from the pen by Blueetooth.
i also would like to know how it is possible to produce forms from existing forms in our firm to the the other of your program. Is it then possible to alter it after it transfered into a document in the pc ?Do i print out the forms on my own printer ?
Please do call me if its difficult to understand my questions.”

Hi *******

To answer your questions. Firstly, you will be able to transfer the penstrokes as you describe using PenMAIL from both those pens. The SU-1B must be flashed to firmware Version 17A (you can get the upgrade from Nokia’s website).

PenMAIL will work with any Anoto digital paper that uses the PGC digital pattern – so Black and Red books, Esselte books and business forms can all be sent via your phone without the need for back end servers and so on.

If you wish to process business forms, it can be done from the handset but there is some configuration to do to make the handset overlay the penstrokes onto the correct background image. If your form requirements are simple, then PenMAIL can also be used for this.

There is a trade off in that to transmit raw penstrokes to a backend server processing is very cheap because it is small (say 6-8k). To send a full image is more expensive because the image is more like 80k plus in size. So you have to make a choice.

I guess in order for me to tell you a little more, then it would be useful if you could describe what you are hoping to achieve using the digital pen and paper. If you could email me directly with some more details, then I can help you further I think.

Regards

Re: Io2 bluetooth

Hello All, I have been in contact with some of you in the recent past, but, alas, I have not been able to transfer ANY file via bluetooth from my pen to my desktop.  I am SO close.  Like others, the desktop sees the pen.  I am using the BlueSoleil (2.3.0.0) stack. It is paired. There are no services in the device itself.  If I use the USB port, the pen is wonderful, I just cannot seem to get it to transfer a file via bluetooth.   I am convinced that I simply do not have the right notebook and/or PAD file.  I have downloaded Digital Pen Business Kit 4.0.3 .  I have printed the PDF files for the Utility Card and the Services.  The pen responsds to them, but I do not seem to be able to find any associated PAD file.  Just too, too close...

Re: Io2 bluetooth

Actually, yes I do.  I originally got it from the Business kit.  It was in PostScript format.  I converted it to PDF and then printed it on a nice laserjet printer.  When I tried to load it via USB, I was prompted for the PAD file.  I've had trouble locating it and I haven't reverse engineered an existing PAD to work with this one.  You don't happen to have a PAD file for it, do you?

i think you need to updated your BT pen with Template_update_pidgets. I checked in my system and there is no PAD file for this test page. I will take print at my end of same page and will do testing...

Re: Io2 bluetooth

Well, I do believe you thinking is very good.  However, I did some work last night and I came up with some different characteristics that lead me to a different conclusion.  I acquired a red book that has the ability to transfer e-mail to a nokia phone.  I was able to pair the pen with the phone and I was able to transfer, via bluetooth to the phone, the file.  Now the phone was not able to interpret the file, but that is a seperate issue that I will persue later.  I then tried to do the same thing with my PC.  I could not do the bluetooth transfer and when I did the USB transfer, I found that the send e-mail pidget on the image of the page was not there (the tick mark was though).  This leads me to believe that I have not properly installed the Anoto services on the PC in that the computer knows that the pen is there, but it does not know what to do. At least I have a significantly greater level of confidence that the pen itself is functional.

some times in background files of forms, there is no ANOTO pidget available. So you will see pen strokes on download image but no ANOTO pidget available. please keep us updated on same... :smileyhappy:

Re: Io2 bluetooth

I've been continuing review what I'm observing.  I should have noticed earlier, but when I try to use the Test PP form, even though I thought it was reading the form, I have now noticed that the pen vibrates and gives a RED light.  This is telling me that the form itself is not being read properly.  Since I am able to transfer .pgc files to my mobile phone via bluetooth (using the red hardbound book' s forms), I am certain that part of the pen's functionality is working.  Since bluetooth is nothing more than a protocol, I think that I should be able to at least transfer a file to the PC the way I do to the phone, even if the PC does not (like the phone) know what to do with the pgc file. I am really begining to think that I have a flaw associated with the PC and it's ability to deal with the bluetooth.  I am going to do more investigaing on that part of the problem.  In the meantime, does anyone know of a form I can go ahead and buy that specifically deals with sending signals to a bluetooth PC? Something that I don't have to print off myself so I can drop that variable out of the equation?
