Pen worked once, but never again

Judging by the posts in this forum, I am sure many of you are encountering this problem.

After a fresh install of Windows XP SP2, and installation of the latest package for the logitechc io2 pen (I believe 4.10, it was 69 megabytes). I was able to download 4 pages onto my machine. I was also able to play with the pen settings, edit my name, etc. The Icon for the pen has always been in my system tray (weather the pen is functional or not).
Now, when I put the pen in its holder, as always the pen icon is in my system tray. I am unable to review pen options in the software package. Further investigation shows that the driver is installed, device detected (by clicking safely remove or going to system hardware settings,) "Digital Pen" with a yellow exclaimation point is displayed. I have tried all sorts of things to get this working, however I have had no success.

I have removed the driver, rescanned for changes,
selected update driver, microsoft finds nothing more suitable than what is already there (same thing when I manually select the driver)
I have uninstalled the package entirely, reinstalled it, and the problem remains.

As I look around my work area I must confess to seeing atleast 5 or 6 devices from logitech. (Even the Dinovo keyboard for my laptop). What am I to think?

Sincerely,

Frustrated long-time logitech user.
