Logitech io2 and Vista

Hello,

does somebody have made any experience with vista and the io2?
I installed Vista Business and the .NET Framework Update 1.1. After that, the logitech software was installed correctly. I just have to give the Tray Icon access to run at every startup...
But after a period of about 2 hours the PC stops with a bluescreen with either "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" or "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" or sometimes "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" as error message. If i close the Tray Icon of the Logitech Software after startup, no error occurs.
I know that official support of the software only exists for Windows XP but perhaps somebody has similar problems with vista and the io2 software or even knows how to fix it.

Thank you for reading and sorry for my bad english,

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

Hi creon! :smileyhappy:

Welcome to the Logitech Online User Discussion Forum

Unfortunately at the moment there is no Vista support for the IO2 Pen. The reason you are receiving the error messages in your Vista OS is due to the fact the IO2 software architecture is designed merely for the 32bit platform (following the Windows XP OS design).

At the moment,  there are no news from Logitech in regards to developing Vista drivers for the IO2 Pen but I would advise you to check the Logitech website on a regular basis for the latest software updates and support

Is there any update on this?  I just bought the pen and so far I like it.  However, without Vista support it will be back in the store tomorrow.

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

Well, unless someone wants from logitech discusses support for Vista, this pen is going back at the end of today.

If anyone is thinking of upgrading to Vista in the future (and that probably includes many of you), I would suggest not buying this.  There are other pens coming to market that I saw at CES last month.  I'll be looking at these soon and will post them for others reference.   And I did see them working on Vista!

The other good thing about the alternatives also don't require the special paper.

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

Oh please let there be support for Vista.  I got my pen for Christmas and while my other machines are XP, I would really like to use it on my new system as well.   Perhaps if we all asked for it, they would supply one?

DISABLE USER ACCOUNT CONTROL

None of Vista's improved security features causes more aggravation than the User Account Control. While it's meant as a helpful safeguard for preventing you (or malware) from running a program that could cause problems on your system, its tendency to pop up too often can make it more annoying than useful. Microsoft advises that you not to disable it, but if you want to lose it—and the pesky warning icon that will show up in the system tray when you do—here's how.

1. Click on the Start button, then click on Control Panel.
2. Click on User Accounts.
3. Click on User Accounts again.
4. Click on "Turn User Account Control on or off"
5. Click "Continue."
6. Uncheck the box next to "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" and click OK.
7. Reboot your computer.
8. Return to the Control Panel, then click on Security.
9. Click on Security Center.
10. Click on "Change the way Security Center alerts me"
11. Click "Don't notify me and don't display the icon (not recommended)"

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

Is there any update on Vista support?
Has anyone found any workarounds to get the pen to work on Vista?
I've heard lots of good things about this product, but does the lack of Vista support mean the product is being discontinued?

Thanks,
Karl

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

I have lost count of the number of outright  lies I have been told by the people at logitech.  I am sitting with $100 worth of paper, love the product, but the company seems to have no interest in supporting it.  I have carried on long fruitless dialogue with tech support, been mislead by their uninformed suggestions, and eventually was referred to telephone tech support.  There,  I was basically told they have no idea when or if the product will be supported and was essentially told to buzz off.

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

I found a workaround to get the digital pen to work in Windows Vista. It is a variation of what I had to go through to get Vonage's V-Phone to work. I went to the program folder and on each application I went to properties and selected the compatability tab. Then I checked the box for Windows XP compatabiltiy. Next I turned off User Account Control to stop the annoying message box. It now works just fine.

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

But do any of these solutions work for Vista 64-bit?
