Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

I wonder if you could expand upon your solution.  What files need to be set to xp compatibility in order to make the pen function in vista.  thx.

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

I took some information from the second thread " Vista? Alternatives to IO2 that support Vista?" and some of this thread. Finally I ended up with this configuration:
* all applications in C:\Program Files\Logitech\io2Software set to "run as Administrator"
* all applications in C:\Program Files\Logitech\io2Software set to "run in Windows XP compatibility mode"

I can access all the tools - but unfortunately cannot download anything from my pen.
Any ideas or solutions what I can do?

Thanks in advance
Stefan

PS: I'm running Windows Vista Business

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

I interpret no response to this post as "Logitech does not plan to support this pen on Vista and is dicontinuing the digital pen."

I, like many others here, would like to have "Logitech Support for IO2 Pen on Vista".
Vista's been out for 9 months now. Is there any update on getting Vista support?

Are you not supporting Vista because sales are weak and you plan to discontinue it?
Or are sales weak because as we rapidly approach one year, you still have no support for Vista (basically the only Windows OS that's shipping with today's computers.)

Regardless of what some of the posts say, I think that everyone interprets it as:
No Vista Support = Product is being discontinued.

I just visited two of the largest notebook manufacturing companies and I could not find ANY notebooks with a Windows operating system other than Vista.

I look forward to a Logitech reply that says, "Go to this page to download the new Vista drivers and software."!

Thanks,
Karl

Logitech io2 and Vista Solution

I don't know if I'm too late to help on the io2 vista problems, but I have a sure fire way to make the software work.
When installing your software make sure that no other instances of the software is active.  the best way to do this is by going to task manager and clicking on the services tag, find the pid # or service name that needs upgrading (a pop-up will give you this information) and end it.  This cannot be done directly from the task manager-why, beats me-but all you have to do is click on the services button on the lower right side in the services tab and you will be able to end that particular service from the next window that pops up.  The final step is the easiest one.  After installation, simply go to programs, logitech folder (not logitech io2 which will be there also), io2 software folder, Pen.LplsHost.exe.   Right click on that file, then go to the compatibility tab.  Change the compatibility tab to windows xp and also give it administrator priviliges by clicking at the bottom. Reboot.  And that my friends is how after weeks of toiling with this horrific dilemma, I have found a way to make the io2 digital software work on vista.

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista Solution

Does that solution work with Vista 64-bit as well?

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista Solution

I am in a role that recommends technology to others.

1)      (Others) I cannot, in good conscience, recommend technology that appears that it will be discontinued to others – no matter how great it might be.

2)      (Me) I never got started with my io2… I bought it after I was running Vista. I’m not really interested in working hard to get it working, only to discover that it is discontinued. I have plenty of other items to work on that do appear to have a future.

So, the answer needs to be “Here’s the link to the Vista drivers and software”. Timing isn’t quite as important.

Before posting this, I’ve also noticed that there are no longer any stores in a 120 mile radius (the largest search radius I can input) of zip code 94555 (Logitech headquarters in CA).

Distribution Shrinking + No Vista Support = No future for this product?

I do appreciate the effort to help, but I hope this clarifies what my needs are…

Thanks,

Karl

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista Solution

Here's your answer:

Logitech to Transition Digital Writing Business to Destiny

FREMONT, Calif. & ROMANEL-SUR-MORGES, Switzerland --(Business Wire)-- Logitech International (Nasdaq:LOGI) (SWX:LOGN) today announced plans to transition its digital writing business to Destiny Wireless plc, a U.K.-based leader in the delivery of digital pen and paper technology to the business market, and a leading reseller of the Logitech io2 Digital Writing System.

Destiny has purchased Logitech's digital-writing technology assets for an undisclosed amount. Logitech will manufacture the digital pen for Destiny until the company transitions to its own manufacturing. Destiny plans to make the digital-writing pens and supplies available to existing Logitech solution providers and individual customers through resellers and its own Web site.

During the transition, Logitech will continue to sell its io2 Digital Writing System, as well as paper and ink refills, as long as supplies last. Logitech will provide support to its digital writing customers while their products are under warranty.

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

I am trying to install the io2 softweare with Vista Home Edition and have tried the workarounds I have seen? Are the ones being suggested just for people that are upgrading? Does anyone know if Logitech ever intends to make this work? Has anyone looked into other devices from other manufacturers that would work well an run with Vista? I just needd something to capture my handwritten notes in a image file I can attach to a CRM application.

Re: Logitech io2 and Vista

The following worked for me:

- make sure .NET 1.1 and SP1 are installed on your computer - if not download both from microsoft.com and install.  You can verify that they are installed by looking at Programs in the Vista Control Panel

- download the latest driver from the Logitech website (not from the estiny website, the compny that bought the io2 pen from Logitech) and save it to your hard drive (running straight from Logitech website failed for me - don't know why)

- connect your cradle and put pen in it

- run the installation file

- start application
