Hi everybody.
I've tried to install my new io2 pen on two different notebooks with the correct requirements, but each time the wizard tries to start the "services" an error (general error!!) is reported.
I spent few hours of my time talking to the technical support here in Italy but no one could help me. After a whole day of installation the pen is still in its box.....
The same SW installs correctly on a desktop computer.
Can anybody out there tell me something about this strange behaviour?
I also hope to here something about it by the experienced Logitech tech support.
Ciao
Amarillis

I am experiencing the same problem, but the links from google about the problem have been deleted. From the last thread I read it has something to do with computers on domains and having different security. They said the problem is installshield is getting an access denied but if you kill install shield the software works fine but installshield is stuck in a suspended install so you can't install other software and it forces the io2 install to back out so your back to square one. I was able to use the software but installshield removed it on installing another product.
I have not found a solution for the issue, kind of bizarre never experienced this installing a usb device but we learn something new every day. I installed the software on my home computer no problem but I really need this for work which is a laptop on a domain. Hopefully there is a solution soon.

This is what is there in Read me file of Logitech IO2 Software:

I'm not sure how this will help, I'm the only person logged in the computer. Anyone know how a second administrative user could be logged in while off the network?

I also tried to install on two computers, but every time the installating stops with the 'register services' error message. The Logitech helpdesk adviced to install the 2.1 version of the software. After a clean boot it did succeed. But this software (the USB driver) doesn't recognize the io2 pen, proberly the driver is not compatible. I installed the USB driver from software version 4.1, and this time the USB driver recognized the pen. But the new USB driver doesn't connect the pen with the old software. So I have the io2 pen, connected with XP, but no software to use it. Does anyone know how to install the latest software? I'll tried clean boot, set of the services during installation, etc.

Logitech
What are you doing about this?
I have just purchased said IO2 pen and sure enough got the 1001 error at installation. Guess what I am not a member of any domains, I work for IBM and we do not have such structures. So what is the support workaround? and What are you doing to solve your customer's problems?
I have tried the trick of turning off the machine after the installation but the the software then simply issues and Exception error. I check the services and sure enough they are there and running, but when I go to "Installed Apps" the application is not there..
Can anyone help? or have I wasted £100?

FYI. "Error 1001: An exception occurred while uninstalling" or "The setup encountered an error and cannot continue to install the software". This error can arise when two users are logged on with administrative rights. In order to continue to install/uninstall, log off from one administrative user and then continue to install from the other administrative user.
